Welcome to Leduc Junior High Student Wellness Action team. We are a group that has been operating in the school since the early 1980's. We used to be called IRS. Then Mrs. Kwasek changed our name to SWAT in the 1990's. We were Students Working as a Team until Mrs. Jones took over and then we were rebranded as the Student Wellness Action Team. Ms. Shewchuk s now the new leader of the ÉLJHS SWAT course and working in collaboration with Mrs. Jones.
We have always been a student leadership group. When we first started we focussed on building relationships through lunch time intramurals and school spirit days. Then we incorporated healthy awareness campaigns. We took on community partnerships with the Leduc Food Bank and we now mentor in the community at local elementary schools and elder care facilities.
We are a Health Promoting school, using the Comprehensive School Health model (click here for more information)
